Preparing for the future
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) places an emphasis on preparing pupils for their future careers. The skills gained from STEM extend beyond those needed to be successful in related fields, preparing pupils to move into industry by gaining a valuable skill set that allows them to be successful in a range of future careers

Hands-on learning with real-world applications
STEM-based learning at RGS teaches pupils more than Science and Mathematic concepts; it offers hands-on learning with real-world applications.
Pupils from Year Seven onwards develop a variety of skills, including creativity, flexibility, communication, decision-making, leadership and initiative; all combining to develop the engineers of the future.
IET Faraday Challenge Day
Year Eight pupils from RGS Worcester, Nunnery Wood School, Christopher Whitehead Language College, Blessed Edward Oldcorne Catholic College, The Chantry School and RGS Dodderhill participated in the 2022-23 Institution of Engineering and Technology’s IET Faraday Challenge Day (FCD). The IET Faraday Challenge is an annual competition that introduces pupils to engineering, inspiring them to consider engineering as a career and helps to develop their practical and employability skills, including team working, problem solving and creative thinking. This year’s challenge is in association with UKRI’s Future Flight Challenge and is based on future flight technology. Teams must race against the clock to solve a real-life engineering problem, putting their engineering and technology knowledge and skills to the test. Read the full article.

Greenpower
Gets young people enthusiastic about science and engineering by challenging them to design, build and race an electric car.
We supply age-appropriate Kit Cars, which can be built in school, college or elsewhere and raced at motorsport venues at Greenpower organised events. Alternatively, older participants can design and build their own car to our regulations. The Greenpower challenge uses the excitement of motorsport to inspire young people to excel in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Read the article.
