Year Ten Pupil Organises Charity Concert for Ukrainian Charity
Sasha Penlington, Year Ten, has organised a concert to raise funds for a charity dedicated to supporting those affected and displaced by the war in Ukraine.
The chosen charity is known as ‘Збережи Дитину’ which translates to ‘Save a Child’. The charity focuses mainly on supporting children who have lost their parents during the war, as well as many other struggling Ukrainian families. The charity provides a temporary care home for those who have been displaced, giving them therapy, food, clothes and many other essentials, as well as helping families to retrieve important documents to leave the country and find new places to live. The charity relies heavily on donations and with their help they are making a real difference to those affected.
Sasha comments “my family in Ukraine were surprised by Russia’s attack, and were one of many families who fled to safety, leaving my uncle and many other brave men to fight for their country either literally or through the resilience of trying to keep important businesses open. Since then, homes have been destroyed and families have been torn apart, and some parts of the beautiful country of Ukraine have been completely obliterated.
The reason I chose the charity ‘Збережи Дитину’, was due to the fact that my aunt (who has now returned to Kyiv) suggested it to me. Once I read the charity’s website I realised that this was the perfect charity to donate for, as it focuses mainly on supporting children who have lost their parents during the war, as well as many other struggling Ukrainian families”.
Sasha would like to invite you to support this effort through her concert next week. The evening will be a celebration of the people of Ukraine, their traditions, as well as showcase some incredible music. The concert will provide the opportunity for attendees to immerse themselves into Ukrainian culture.
The concert will be held on Monday (30 January) at 7.00pm in Perrins Hall. If you would like to support those displaced due to the Ukraine war you can do so by donating here . If you would like to come and support Sasha and her charity concert you can book free, unreserved tickets to the concert here.
We look forward to welcoming you to Sasha’s fundraising Concert and would like to give thanks and congratulate Sasha for her efforts in organising this event.
