Farewell Class of 2023
Last week Upper Sixth students celebrated their time at RGS with two special events.
The first opportunity was with the Upper Sixth Graduation Ceremony on Thursday evening. This year’s Graduation Ceremony was held in Perrins Hall with refreshments served after on the Long Walk lawns. The evening was an opportunity to celebrate both the successes of the past and look forward to a bright future and a chance for students and parents to catch up after the A Level and BTEC examinations.
After a welcome from Head of Sixth Form, Mr Mark Evetts, students were presented with Certificates and Prizes, awarded for their contributions and achievements whilst at the School.
We had the pleasure of welcoming our Guest of Honour for the evening, Mr Tom Dyson MBE, who is an RGS Alumni. Tom attended RGS Worcester from 1996-2003 and is now Head of Olympic and Paralympic Performance Delivery for British Rowing. Tom spoke to the Upper Sixth Leavers about his career and delivered incredibly relevant, inspiring and empowering words, which were very well received by the students and their parents. The Headmaster then closed the Graduation Ceremony with a speech summarising the many achievements of the Upper Sixth cohort, wishing them all the very best for the future. Mr Pitt said, “I would like to thank our leavers for your commitment to your school over so many years. In the last year, as Upper Sixth students, you have quite simply been superb. You have set a very positive tone and worked so well with the younger pupils and as role-models.”
On Friday evening, the Upper Sixth Leavers’ Ball held at Grafton Manor provided the second opportunity for the Class of 2023 to celebrate their achievements and life-long friendships forged at RGS Worcester, before they embark on the next chapter of their lives; University, Gap Years, Higher Level Apprenticeships or the world of work. Students enjoyed a three-course dinner, followed by an evening of dancing. The celebrations then continued in Worcester for many.
Congratulations to the Upper Sixth students and we look forward to seeing you on Results Day in August.
