With the theatre industry in a major crisis at present, it is hard for our GCSE and A level Drama students to visit the theatre for their courses. As such, Examination Boards have recommended schools take up the option for students to write about digital and streamed productions.
Although it is still the early days of this term, the House Competition is in full swing. As this article is written, Senior Badminton has completed two socially-distanced, Year group bubbled rounds, with Ottley and Whiteladies sharing the spoils for the Sixth Form’s Round 1, and Ottley narrowly taking Round 2 for Year Eleven.

September 2020 has seen many changes at RGSW, most of them COVID-19 related. However, away from the face masks and the one-way systems, something else has been instigated. This academic year marks the first time we have used Artificial Intelligence at RGS Worcester.
The start of term has seen RGS pupils across Year Seven to Year Eleven returning to take part in Physical Education (PE) lessons to develop their health and fitness through the activity of Athletics. In particular, pupils have evaluated and developed their running technique as well as participated in a variety of running events over the past three weeks.
Lower Sixth artists were pioneers last week. Not only did they take part in the first school trip in the current COVID-19 climate, but they were also welcomed as the first group since ‘lockdown’ to tour Worcester Cathedral.

West Mercia Police’s dog section has recently been training in the community as part of its on-going specialist search and dog work. The section has 47 dogs ranging from German Shepherds to more specialist search dogs, such as Springer Spaniels.
Despite the highly unusual COVID-19 circumstances the 1st XI Cricket team managed to get their cricket campaign underway this week in a fixture against an Old Boys’ XI. The conditions of this 20/20 game were unique and strange in that no spectators were allowed and the balls and players’ hands had to be sanitised every 6 overs.
RGS has two newly published authors. Robbie MacDonald and James Rhodes in Year Nine were both winners of the 2020 SOS Mini-Saga Competition ‘Hunted’. James and Robbie’s class all entered this competition, which required pupils to devise and write an exciting and gripping adventure story around the theme ‘Hunted’.
