RGS Lower Sixth Physics pupils took part in an International Masterclass on Particle Physics. The event was hosted by the University of Birmingham Department of Physics and Astronomy

The Headmaster reflected on his experience and that of independent schools during the past year in an article published in this month’s edition of The Independent Schools Magazine.

The final Virtual Concert of the Lent term took place on Tuesday 30 March, with twelve Year Eleven pupils performing. For the first time, several of these performances were pre-recorded, enabling students to perform with a live piano accompaniment in Perrins Hall or Main Hall, before the films were streamed to the audience.

The School wrote an article published in The Worcester News following the announcement of the death of The Duke of Edinburgh. This was an opportunity to demonstrate the very significant impact and legacy of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

We are pleased to announce that during the Lent term, the House system has flourished with 17 different House events taking place! A huge thank you must go out to all of the staff who have organised and led events, as well as those pupils who participated.

As we enter the Trinity term this week, it has been a treat to see the grounds of RGS Worcester leaping into spring and blossoming with an array of colourful bulbs and plants. Like much of RGS Worcester, the school gardens have enjoyed a long history, with this legacy now in the safe hands of Head Groundsman, Sean Lloyd and his team.

RGS welcomes two Honorary Patrons, appointed to the RGS Worcester Family of Schools to reflect outstanding contribution to the success of the Schools over a significant period of time. Honorary Patrons provide expert advice and continued support to the Board of Governors and the Schools

Over a year ago, pupils in Years Eight and Nine auditioned for the first Summer Musical – Bugsy Malone. The show was going to be an all-action musical opportunity for the younger cast members.

CCF Colour Sergeant Charlotte Smith, Upper Sixth, has been offered a place at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst after passing the selection process. The offer remains open for 6 years and provides Charli with the opportunity to take up the Commissioning Course when she wishes to do so.

Last Tuesday saw the resumption of face-to-face instruction for the Combined Cadet Force. The energy and enthusiasm of the returning cadets demonstrated their grit, adaptability, initiative and tenacity and dispelling to me the perpetuating myth that children today have little or no resilience.
