We are incredibly excited to be joined this term by some sporting stars who will be helping to foster our talented pupils at RGS Worcester.

In addition to our new Sport and PE teachers, we are delighted to welcome the following new Teaching staff to RGS Worcester this term.

The start of term for teachers normally begins with an INSET day. This involves training, communication about the new Academic year and ensuring teachers are up to speed with the latest safeguarding legislation.

Over the summer, the Physical Education department set the challenge for pupils to complete as many marathons as possible during the holiday period keeping up their fitness and motivation over the break.

Mr Jones, Director of Innovation, and Mr Warne, Head of IT at RGS The Grange, have been asked to represent RGS Worcester at the Global Think Ahead Virtual iPad Education Summit on 9 and 16 July.

We have achieved a ‘first’ – an entire term’s House Competition delivered virtually! First of all, we need to thank all of the staff who have run events over this past year, and especially in ‘lockdown’. It’s been wonderful to see that the House System can still thrive whatever the circumstances!

In light of the nation shutting down, a lot of life-enhancing activities have been brought to a halt and experiences that bring us happiness, in the very moment we need them most, cancelled. This is nowhere more evident than in the Music Department where pupils from all four schools had put in hours of preparation for the ‘Out of Africa’ Choral Concert performance due to be held in Worcester Cathedral in March.

Rowing fixtures have been reinvented for the Trinity term. In place of our traditional river races the rowers, and teams of parents, have competed at several ‘virtual’ regattas against schools and clubs from around the country and overseas.

As the demand for PPE has now reduced, we have been able to add up the contribution made from RGSW and can confirm that we have provided 2,500 Face Visors, 120 Specialist Scrubs and 50 Scrubs Bags and 338 Goggles to the NHS and local medical providers.

The extremely generous sum donated since April by the alumni community in support of pupils and their parents has recently been supplemented by those parents who have chosen to donate their Trinity term fee rebates to the Hardship Fund. A number of parents of the Upper Sixth Class of 2020 Leavers have also elected to donate their refundable deposit to the Foundation for the same purpose.
