The Upper Sixth are two weeks into their programme designed to offer guidance, support and vital ‘pearls of wisdom’ as they transition to life after RGS. It has been a turbulent time for the students, but this is a great opportunity for them to focus on the future.
Katy Marsh, Year Eleven, has been given a ‘Highly Commended’ Award for submitting a short story to the Oxford University French Flash Fiction Competition organised by the Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages at the University of Oxford.
Since the Government advised all schools to close to pupils on site, the RGS Physical Education and Sport department has been working hard remotely with the RGS community to engage in physical activity. We have pleasure in sharing with you a summary of our remote learning in Physical Education and Sport via the video and also an outline below.
Since ‘lockdown’, the Drama department and our pupils have had to come up with innovative ways to rehearse and perform. Our Digital Learning Programme has come to their aid and they have been able to link together film sent in by our pupils to create short plays as well as carrying our rehearsals.
With national Lockdown continuing into the Trinity term, the RGSW House System has had to consider how we could continue the House competition. The first event would be the ‘Keepie Uppie’ Challenge.
Out of the crazy times that beset us at the moment, comes a truly positive ray of sunshine – RGS Kitchen Adventures with Mrs Nicholls. This weekly virtual Cookery Club, from the comfort and ease of participants’ homes, would have been difficult to achieve at school with over 30 pupils signed up.
RGS rowers were invited to participate in a Stay-at-home Regatta organised by Monmouth Boys’ School. 35 teams of four took part including 4 teams of RGS rowers and 3 teams of parents (rowing under the banner of the Pullinger Boat Club).
