Years One and Two
The Pre-Preparatory School, or Pre-Prep for short, is our name for Year One and Year Two at RGS The Grange. The Class Teacher leads most of the learning, with specialist teachers for Music, PE and Games, Computing and French.
Our Pre-Prep School approach
Our aim is to ignite your child’s natural curiosity at this age. Our approach is topic based. Deliberately creative and imaginative, each topic is carefully planned to cover English, Maths, Geography, History, Art and Science. In this way, your child becomes truly immersed in learning, making connections between ideas and themes.
Alongside traditional teaching methods, your child will be introduced to our Digital Learning Programme (DLP), which promotes more profound thinking skills and independent learning. Your child will also get to know Prep School departments and teaching staff, making the transition to Prep School seamless and comfortable.
Residential trip
One of the highlights of Year Two is the option for your child to go on their first Residential trip. Invariably more of a wrench for you than your child, it involves a two-night stay away from home; adventures include a muddy challenge and a zip wire. Those who take part return a little more independent and resilient from overcoming challenges, with strengthened social skills and friendship groups.
