A Fond Farewell
Today, we bid a fond farewell to Miss Ellie Gibbons, Head of Netball at RGS Worcester.
Miss Gibbons was a perfect fit for this role, having dedicated her education and career to Netball. She attended the University of Exeter where she spent three years in the High Performance Netball Scholarship Programme. Her skills shone as a goal attack for the Team Bath Super League Squad. In 2019, Miss Gibbons travelled to Sydney to play for Manly Warringah Sapphires in the NSW premier league, expanding her knowledge of the Sport and drawing inspiration from players on a different continent. Miss Gibbons reinforced our connection with Severn Stars by playing for them in their Vitality Netball Super League. She also played a key role in establishing the Nova Netball Academy at RGS Worcester.
More recently, Miss Gibbons secured professional contracts with Wasps and then Surrey Storm, while leading our Junior and Senior School Netball teams to success in Plate competitions and the 2023 ‘Superball’ fixture against King’s School. We thank her for her positive contributions to the School both as an Academic PE teacher and as Head of Netball and wish her every success in her new role and her Surrey Storm Netball journey.
Next term, we welcome Rebecca Gwilliam as our new Head of Netball. Ms Gwilliam has prior experience in this role as Head of Netball at Malvern College before joining us here at RGS Worcester. We look forward to Ms Gwilliam bringing her expertise and enthusiasm to our Netball programme.
