Sixth Form Department Films
The majority of students take 3 A Levels (or BTEC/CTEC equivalent) in addition to undertaking Academic Enrichment and Employability courses. A number of students do however take 4 A Levels and on occasion 5. We very much look to provide a personalised programme for each student. We discuss options with students and parents to make sure each Lower Sixth Former is on the pathway that will best enable them to succeed, both during their time in the RGS at Sixth Form and also in the years beyond RGS.
As noted above, we offer BTEC and CTEC courses in addition to A Levels. The BTEC National Diploma in Sport is equivalent in outcomes to two A Levels. The CTEC in Business (CTEC being the Cambridge Examination Boards’ equivalent offering to Pearson and their BTEC courses) is equivalent to one A Level. Subject to timetable availability, the BTEC course can be studied on its own or in combination with an A Level. The CTEC can be studied with other A Levels or indeed with the BTEC course. Approximately 20% of all University entries are now made with a BTEC/CTEC qualifications and we would be delighted to talk to you in more depth, should you have questions relating to these courses.
