Sixth Form Admissions A Step-by-Step Guide
Outstanding A Level and BTEC/CTEC Results and an Award Winning Careers Provision are only two of the elements which make an RGS Worcester Sixth Form experience so special and rewarding. Come and see what else we can offer as you choose your Worcester Sixth Form or Sixth Form College.
The Admissions process below covers entry into the RGS Worcester Sixth Form. There are 5 key stages to the admissions process. We understand the need for flexibility, and we will guide you through the steps.
Step One: Come and Visit
We would be delighted to arrange a personal visit or you are welcome to come to an Open Morning. Meet the teachers and pupils. Explore the grounds and facilities. Talk to us about what we can offer.
“the school succeeds in it’s aim to develop in every child quiet self confidence, aspiration, responsibility, resilience, spiritual values and a personal moral code” – isi report
Entry to RGS Worcester Sixth Form
We expect students to fulfil the following criteria:
- To achieve at least six GCSE passes at Grade 6 or above. For some subjects where nationally, the GCSE score is above average (such as Maths), Grade 7 is required.
For some students who wish to pursue our Creative Arts Pathway (Art, Textiles and Business) but who may not achieve six Grade 6 passes or better, we ask that they talk to us about this; we will judge each student on their own merits and abilities. - Have a good report from Year Eleven. The Report should reflect a hardworking and diligent approach. The Report would need to be supplemented by a reference from the student’s school that reflects positively upon the student. It is expected that the applicant will have a very good disciplinary record at their present school.
- Predicted grades will be used to support the judgement of the application along with RGS Worcester Entrance test results which all applicants will sit. For those seeking an Academic Scholarship in the Sixth Form, applicants will have an interview with a subject specialist as regards their chosen Scholarship subject, along with a member of the Senior Leadership Team. All of the above will be considered before any offer is made.
- Appropriate advice will be provided if a pupil does not achieve a Grade 6 or above in their final GCSE Maths and English examinations. These subject grades are often crucial for many University and job applications, and we will advise the viability of taking these subjects when in the Sixth Form.
