Winners of the 2023 Bevere Gallery Art Awards Announced
We are delighted to share that two RGS pupils have been announced as winners of The Bevere Gallery Art Awards. The Bevere Art Awards are awarded each year for outstanding achievements at GCSE and A Level.
This year’s winners of the Bevere Gallery Art Awards are Year Eleven pupil Katy Pitt and Upper Sixth student Ellie Allen.
Katy Pitt was awarded the Bevere Gallery Art Award for her accomplished drawing and painting and “her understanding of colour which is evident in her original printmaking, reminiscent of the great London printmaker Gail Brodholt”, according to judges Kim and Alastair Taylor from Bevere Art Gallery.
Ellie Allen was awarded the Bevere Gallery Art Award for impressing the judges with her study of light and dark and her ability to distinguish different textures. Kim and Alastair commented, “She shows a real talent of presenting light, perspective and colour, and her application is really accomplished; her paintings are very well observed, we’d happily show this work in the gallery”.
We are incredibly grateful to Kim and Alastair Taylor for once again supporting the Creative Arts at RGS. The Bevere Gallery also offers work experience opportunities to Sixth Form students and exhibits work by RGS artists and we are incredibly thankful for this ongoing support for our budding artists,
On behalf of the RGS community, we would like to congratulate Katy Pitt and Ellie Allen who succeeded in such a competitive cohort and whose artistic talents have shone through. Their work was on display in June at the Creative Arts Evening.
