Integral Part of School Life
Cooking in the Catering Suite is a much-loved part of the RGS Dodderhill experience. Enjoyed by the whole school community, the Catering Suite is so much more than a facility or a subject. It’s a valuable life skill and an integral part of school life for all, from the youngest to the oldest. When your child is in Years Two and Three, they might use it to enhance the curriculum, such as making Egyptian Flatbreads as part of History or making croissants in French. It’s timetabled from Year Four with Food Technology available as a GCSE subject.
There are countless informal opportunities for your child to enjoy the alchemy of Science, Maths and English that is baking. Star baker aprons are much-coveted thanks to three annual bake-offs: the Dodderhill bake-off, which is open to those from Years Four to Nine and judged by staff; the House bake-off; and a year group bake-off.
